2008 BIO ANNUAL CONVENTION -

June 17 – 20, 2008
LGTRC will again be part of the Louisiana Pavilion at the Biotechnology
Industry Organization Annual Meeting. The annual meeting will host
participants from over 65 countries with over 2,200 exhibiting companies.
The Louisiana Pavilion will highlight the biotech opportunities and
research connections available in the state. LGTRC will be at Booth 3335.

2007 LGTRC RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM

The Louisiana Gene Therapy Research Symposium held
its third annual Research Symposium at the Manship Theatre in Baton
Rouge. The keynote speaker for the event was C.
Thomas Caskey, MD, the Director and Chief Executive Officer
of the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine at the University
of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He spoke on the
issues facing gene therapy research and discussed the road to developing
effective therapeutics.
The event was attend by over 150 participants, with 9 platform presentations
by junior researchers and 60 poster presentations. The symposium
provides the opportunity for collaboration between researchers
throughout Louisiana.

Thanks to all who visited us again this year
at the Louisiana Gene Therapy Research Consortium booth in the
Louisiana Pavilion at the BIO Annual Convention held in Boston.
With over 22,000 visitors and the largest gathering of biotech
exhibitors in history, with more than 1,900 companies and 60 domestic,
country and regional pavilions representing every aspect of the
biotechnology industry, we were pleased that so many of you enjoyed
meeting us and our mascot "Gene" at
our booth.

The Louisiana Gene Therapy Research Symposium held
its second annual Research Symposium at the Manship Theatre in Baton
Rouge. The keynote speaker for the event was Molly Corbett Broad,
President Emerita of the University of North Carolina System. This
Symposium is the Louisiana Gene Therapy Research Consortium's premier
event bringing together world-renowned scientists at the frontier
of gene and adult stem cell research to explore the challenge and
promise of gene therapy research and the compelling potential of

BIO ANNUAL CONVENTION 2005

Thanks to all who visited with the Louisiana Gene Therapy
Research Consortium Team at the BIO ANNUAL CONVENTION 2005 in Philadelphia.
The event had a record attendence of 18,000. We enjoyed meeting all
who stopped at our booth to discuss our upcoming clinical manufacturing
facility.
FIRST ANNUAL RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM
May 2, 2004
The Louisiana Gene Therapy Research Consortium held
its First Annual Research Symposium on May 2, 2004 at Pennington
Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge. Particpants from LSUHSC-New
Orleans, LSUHSC-Shreveport, and Tulane University HSC enjoyed seventeen
research presentations and over 60 poster presentations discussing
recent research and development in gene-based and cell-based medicine.
State-of-the-art research in vector development and adult stem cell
biology was presented with emphasis on the use of these technologies
for the prevention or treatment of multiple conditions including
cancer, spinal cord injury, neurological disease, cardiovascular
disease, pulmonary disease, and infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS

4th Annual Conference on Mesenchymal and Nonhematopoietic
Stem Cells
October 14 – 16, 2004
Wyndham Hotel
New Orleans, Louisiana
Hosted by Tulane Center for Gene Therapy, the meeting
will began with a keynote address by Dr. David Scadden, a world leader
in stem cell biology. There were two days of symposia comprised of
invited speakers and selected abstracts. Topics ranged from fundamental
stem cell biology to preclinical models and clinical trials. Workshops
addressed the most important obstacles to the clinical applications
of nonhematopoietic cellular therapy. For more information visit
